Happy New Years!

Whether you spent the evening in New York City’s Times Square watching the ball drop or surrounded by friends and family counting down, it’s officially 2013! Happy New Years fashion dish readers. 2012 was an exciting year, but I can’t wait for what the new year holds. Last night I spent the evening at dinner with my family at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago. We enjoyed the delicious tasting menu, telling funny stories, and spending the last few hours of 2012 together.

I changed fifty or so times before I settled on a Theyskens silk dress, topped off with an IRO leather shouldered blazer, Isabel Marant black leather booties, and a black diamond necklace I borrowed from my mom. However, I counted down in bed, watching New Years Eve with Carson Daly  on NBC, cozy in sweats. It was the ideal way to spend New Year’s Eve and I hope each of you had a fantastic start to what seems to me as the best year yet!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas fashion dish readers. I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA once again for the past few days, but getting ready to leave for Colorado, while juggling holiday dinners and parties proved to be no easy feat. However, it’s finally Christmas, the day we’ve been counting down for for sometime now and I couldn’t be happier to be at my second home in Colorado spending the morning with family, opening presenting, enjoying a delicious breakfast, and indulging in an extra special dinner. It’s all about downtime and with a white Christmas outside there’s really no better way to spend the day than inside cozy by the fire, in comfortable sweats, and a good book.

Last night my family and I indulged in an annual tradition of Christmas Eve dinner at Spago, Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at the Ritz Carlton. It was delicious and the perfect way to celebrate. I wore a bright blue IRO dress and a black IRO blazer with leather shoulders – you can take the girl out of New York, but you can’t seem to take New York out of the girl!

After dinner I was absolutely exhausted, I’d only slept a few hours the night before and traveled the majority of the day, so I put pajamas on early and got into bed to watch A Christmas Story – another annual tradition, I’ve seen the movie more times then I can count and love it each and every time. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and enjoy all the sweet treats, merry joy, and special moments of the day.

Day Three, sweet scents

On the third day of Christmas…I love the idea of giving a close friend or loved one a bottle of perfume for the holidays. Perfume is something that’s incredibly personal to give as well as a gift that keeps giving, I’ve had a bottle from Calypso for over three years now. Day Two – Holiday Nails

I can’t think of a better way to show off your holiday spirit then via a colorful manicure! While I usually opt for darker colors in the winter my first order of business when I return to New York for the holidays is to select a more colorful hue to celebrate Christmas! New Years will require a change of polish, I love to do a fun color or even sparkles.

My friend Sam has the holiday nail down pat and I adore her cool and fun Gel look (featured above). If you’re a bit more conservative like me there are numerous reds, silvers, and golds to choose from that’ll compliment your holiday best!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I was going to do an outfit post on last week’s favorite, paisley pants, but then I remembered the pants will  have to wait as it’s Thanksgiving today! Happy Thanksgiving Day lovely readers. I am beyond grateful for the constant encouragement, readership, and overall love for this blog and me! Yesterday was the pre-Thanksgiving chaos – cooking the majority of tonight’s feast, setting the table, doing last minute errands – but, today is about family. Whatever differences you may have, disagreements, issues, etcetera there is no better day then today to toss them aside, spend time with those you love and those who love you, and take a day to simply chill out.

Unfortunately I’ll spend half of the day working, but I will take the time to adhere to a T-day tradition, watching the parade, in cozies, in bed. There is nothing more blissful. I would tell you what I’m planning on wearing tonight except I am clueless as to what it might be. I’m leaving it to the eleventh hour to decide, but I do have fall colors in mind. Tonight as I sit down to dinner with both family and friends I’m thankful for the all the love I am surrounded with, for the success I have had, and for all that is yet to come. I hope your day is full of thankfulness and love.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy 4th fashion dish readers! I love the Fourth of July, there’s something fabulous about celebrating the holiday in New York City. Not only does the atmosphere change, no matter the heated temps, but everyone’e in it together, smiling, wearing red, white, and blue, and BBQ’s can be smelt all over. Unfortunately for some this year the 4th falls midweek, so instead of the traditional luxurious long weekend, it’s a brief taste of fun, and then most head back to their offices to finish off the week.

However, I find the briefest moments to be the most fun, so while a long weekend of celebration sounds nice, the 4th is about spending time with friends, indulging in delicious food, and together celebrating this fantastic nation. So, fashion dishers don’t allow the midweek blues to interfere!

I started the day off with a delicious breakfast at San Ambroues with an old friend. But, this afternoon I’ll be headed to the village for a late lunch that promises to last into the late evening, for friends, fun, and food. (Delicious food!) I’m thinking, since the temps are reaching the nineties to ditch the workout wear for something a tad looser and add a bit of red, white, and blue. July 4th finds

Since I was a kid I’ve looked forward to July 4th. While it does mark the second month of summer and means fall is that much closer, I concentrate on the contrasts of the traditional red, white, and blue hues and all the fun crafts, accessories, and looks in celebration of . While some love the fireworks and others the barbecue I adore the special editions (like Hamptons and the Dan), the fun events, and the excuse to wear lots of red, white, and blue of course. Cinco de Mayo

How did you celebrate Cinco de Mayo yesterday? I decided to have a girls night in. We had planned to celebrate at a fun Mexican restaurant like Dos Caminos, but found that every place was completely booked. Since everywhere in New York seems to be insane on Cinco de Mayo anyway, having a night in was completely fine for us. It’s nice to not feel the need to be dressed up all the time, but be super casual and fresh faced which is just as chic sometimes.

3 avocados 

1 jalepeno (don’t use all of it and chop very finely)

1 clove of garlic (also chopped very finely)

(I choose not to add onions, but add up to one small onion)

lime juice 

2 small tomatoes

salt, pepper, lemon, & lime added throughout 

I had just planned for us to order in, but after a day outside walking, shopping, and running errands, I felt inspired to try my hand at making homemade guacamole. I figured it couldn’t be too difficult and it was the perfect time to bond with my younger brother, he was a huge help! With Skinny Girl Margarita and guac in tow I knew it was going to be a fun celebration, but low key celebration and it was. Feliz Cinco de Mayo! xo

Earth Day

Earth Day has always been important to me and has become even more so in the last few years since I interred for eco fashion and health site, Eco Chick. It’s a wonderful site, with fresh tips and tricks, fantastic interviews, and a bevy of information on all eco business, culture, and more. I learned a bunch, but even more importantly I learned about the impact we make everyday and how the decisions we make – be it what we drink out of, the car we drive, even the clothes we wear – have an enormous impact on this Earth.

Sunday’s special in that worldwide we celebrate the Earth, but I think each and everyday that same celebration needs to be implemented into each of our lives. Yesterday, Samantha Yanks did a fun show and tell on the Today Show with her eco lux finds for both adults and kids, so inspired by that find below three fashionable eco finds that make eco chic everyday. It’s important to remember that we live here now, but Earth existed way before we did, and because of that it’s our due to care for it, xo.
