a splash of orange

I’m obsessed with color for spring and summer and orange makes the top of the list this month. It’s the perfect shade that welcomes May with a burst of citrus. Orange is a hot color this season found everywhere from shoes, like the Manolo Blahnik’s that scream neon fun, to cool bracelets from Jennifer Miller. Hopefully with last weeks April showers, there will be a ton of May flowers, but  if we have to create a little color on our own at first, we know where to find it, xo.

the little red dress

I think it’s time to update our little black dresses with a colorful alternative. While I love a little black dress as the weather warms I’m all about white. But, last week I discovered the power of a little red dress. I needed a white dress for a summer event and while I found the perfect fit at Nanette Lepore I also found that it came in a shade of red that made me wish out loud that I could have it too.

It’s called the Vamos Dress and it’s a to die for dress that’ll work to make a statement in the office or out. Paired with cute sandals and a clutch it’s the new LBD without a doubt and the tomato red (mixed in with corals of course) is the it color for summer. So, move over black and white, it’s time for some color this summer, xo.

April Showers

It was a wet weekend and a wet Monday. Usually this weather would have me down and blue, but determined to have a fantastic week and with a full social calendar I couldn’t let it! One of the reasons I’m normally annoyed with the rain is the lack of a beautiful, attractive, or even umbrella. It’s a practical item to own and one, well, one that should be loved like all the other accessories we have. I remember Nina Garcia said that one should own a beautiful umbrella at some point, sooner than later that is.

Well, check that off the list, because ladies I found the pinkest, most colorful one to tote with me this past weekend and this week it’s an added pop of pink, neon of course, in the otherwise drab and dark. I’m head over heels about it, and rain or shine this umbrella is the ideal one to have. Here are two favorite umbrellas to help survive the rainiest of weeks. Let it rain, xo.

Maxed Out Maxi Skirt

Yesterday definitely felt like a Monday, so it’s more than time for a midweek break, in fact a delicious dinner with a close friend is exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s been a chaotic week and an insane afternoon, so I can’t wait to take a midweek break. I’m head over heels in love with the pink maxi skirt, from boutique Ludivine, I wore in Mexico, and since I’m in the mood for a little bit of color and a little bit of sass it’s the perfect choice.

Similar skirt (ALC)

Though I’m terrified to wear it in New York, it’s long enough that if I’m not careful the delicate hem could get smashed, it’s the look I’m feeling for a midweek dinner date. With a fun silk tank from Joie, another favorite, and a warm Theory knit it’s comfortable, but has just the right amount of dressiness in it to make it the ideal look for a cozy dinner in the village.

It’s exciting to wear this particular piece in the City because I’m all for a versatile wardrobe! With the addition of a leather jacket to keep me warm and a fun boot to accessorize with, I’ve taken the beach like quality of a sandal and bare shoulder and turned it into an appropriate wear for a cooler New York evening. I’ve recently realized that I have several favorites I find I’m reworking time and time again, but that’s exactly what makes me love fashion, there’s always a new way to rework a favorite look, xo.

patterned pants

The popular polka dot pants from Topshop which began my patterned pant obsession

I have a love hate relationship with pants. Though I’m a fan of some jeans, white in particular, I’m very picky when it comes to the perfect ones. Usually my uniform consists of leggings during the day and for night a dress. Recently I’ve worn pants on several occasions, including a fun J Brand pair in beige and white Rag and Bones in Mexico.

However, while I browsed the racks at J.Crew this afternoon I noticed a new pant trend – the patterned pant. Though I’ve spotted several patterned pants this past season, especially a pair from Topshop with polka dots, I’m loving the patterns for the warmer months. I love the J.Crew options which make getting dressed in the spring and summer both fun and colorful.

Whether wearing them in the office of to drinks with friends their the ideal go to pant this season. Tone them down with a basic blouse and cardigan for day and dress them up with accessories for night. Definitely the ultimate addition to your wardrobe, both versatile and super chic. I can’t wait to pick up a pair too, xo.

Spring inspiration

Though we’ve definitely felt Spring for several weeks in New York it’s nice for it to at last be official! Spring has me nostalgic for home as I’m currently on vacation in a rather weather moody Colorado, but nonetheless I’m looking forward to retuning to warm temperatures, the smell of Summer in the air, and lots of flowers abloom.

Obsessed with this Nanette Lepore blazer

My favorite part of the season is obviously the fashion. I’ll take a fun Summer dress any day over a cashmere knit and boots. This season I’m especially excited to begin adding to my wardrobe pieces that will take me from the office out. I’ll be interning the majority of the summer months and with the welcome of Spring I’ve been getting more and more excited about what I’ll add to make the perfect selection of work appropriate, but fun looks.

I couldn’t help, but be overwhelmed with all the fantastic inspiration from Nanette Lepore’s tweets to Christine White’s court + hudson the web has been abound with seasonal excitement. Here are some things that  inspire me this Spring. What’s your Spring inspiration?

Here’s to bidding adieu to winter, xo

blazer round two

It seems I’ve already found my tried and true seasonal staple already. For some it’s the colorblocked pump and for others it’s the fun cocktail dress, but for me a seasonal favorite is the structured white blazer. I’m so excited to have found the perfect one the other afternoon while at Theory. It has already shown itself to be quite versatile, for last night I wore it with a short dress and YSL clutch to dinner and tonight I wore it again, but this time with a patterned blouse, a pair of my favorite AG skinny jeans, a white knit (also from Theory), and my Rachel Comey booties, to shopping and dinner with another girlfriend.

I love these Rachel Comey ankle boots for both day and night

It’s great because it’s not too snug that I can’t layer it, but it also provides just enough warmth for breezy summer nights like the teaser we had last night. I can’t wait to see how many other ways I can wear it both out and about in Colorado and in Cabo.

This Theory blazer has appeared in three posts already and it’s not even officially Spring, I’m so obsessed

Celebrities love their white blazers too.

It’s almost Friday and for me it’s day one of a well deserved break. I can’t wait to take a vacation with family and relax after what seemed like a crazed few months! But, whether it’s the start of break or day one of your weekend make sure to take some time for yourself and perhaps invest in your very own seasonal staple.

Here’s to a well deserved weekend, xo

tickle me pink

I decided to be more daring than my usual self when it came to my weekly manicure this afternoon. Instead of settling with the same old grayish green I’ve been wearing all winter I decided to brighten things up by choosing a deep mauve color for my toes and a bubblegum pink for my fingers. When I say pink I mean screaming you can’t miss it pink and I have to say I’m loving it. Maybe it has something to do with the gorgeous weather or maybe the prospect of vacation in two very short days is enough to make me break out of my color comfort zone, but I’m feeling daring and I hope it doesn’t stop.

I can’t get enough of this weather and I’m celebrating all Spring already has to offer by dinners with friends as many nights as I can. Sometimes I let work overwhelm me, and I think it’s a common theme with all of us women we always do as much as we can as long as we can, but last night I had a well deserved dinner at New York hotspot Mezzaluna.

Still obsessed with my YSL clutch, it’s the ultimate addition to any evening look.

It’s fantastic Italian and though everyone was vying for a table outside I was happy to be out with good food and friends. I wore the pink polish will be my main accessory tonight and added some edge with grey booties, a short navy blue dress by Scoop, and my new white Theory blazer.

Here’s to much more delicious food and fantastic friends to come, xo

spring fever

I love all the seasons in New York, but I’m particularly fond of the warmer months. Even though we haven’t had a very cold winter at all everyone seems to have been holding out for a few beautiful warm days like these. It’s hard to imagine that there are weeks ahead of this weather and needless to say, I can’t wait! It must have something to do with it still being light at 5:00, but I’m feeling very energized mid-week. It helps too that I’ve had my summer must have list in mind. I can’t wait to invest in a few new outfits and fun accessories especially with a close vacation to Cabo in mind. From colorful sandals to awesome sunnies here’s a round up of all things Spring.

Here’s to spring fever, xo
