Meet Balenciaga

My friend Sam wrote prior to Sunday brunch – I can’t wait to meet Balenciaga. It made me laugh because while a bag is a bag, usually to us it’s a lot more than that! Bags are the one thing we take with us everyday, pouring our lives into them, grabbing, dropping, and sometimes throwing them wherever we go. Women sometimes forget that a bag is part of their outfit, it isn’t enough to have a chic outfit, the bag has to fit the look equation – it kills me to see it!

Sorry for the squished terrible image, I spy an iPhone in the future with the promise of better pictures!

I’ve been having a bag struggle since the summer, I invested in a Celine, but didn’t want to use it on the daily, I have a cross body Jerome Dreyfuss, but it’s too small to throw a MacBook into (and all the other things I carry). During a spur of the moment trip to Barneys in Boston I spied the bag I needed! Indeed meet Balenciaga, she’s your everyday kind of girl with an edge, the grey color makes it easy to wear with a variety of looks, it’s sizable enough to carry a MacBook, but not too big that it can’t be worn out at night, and it can transition from fall to winter without a hunch! I love it and have spent the entire weekend with it and can’t wait to take it back to Boston with me. Sometimes unexpected purchases are the best kind.

The other day my friend got me thinking when she went on search for a cute key case. It definitely is chic to have to dump the contents of your bag onto the ground as you search for your keys, so a key case is a practical accessory to carry along especially when in college when multitasking means never having a free hand. I’m obsessed with the purple key case from Balenciaga that I ordered from Barneys and it’s been so useful so far!

April Showers

It was a wet weekend and a wet Monday. Usually this weather would have me down and blue, but determined to have a fantastic week and with a full social calendar I couldn’t let it! One of the reasons I’m normally annoyed with the rain is the lack of a beautiful, attractive, or even umbrella. It’s a practical item to own and one, well, one that should be loved like all the other accessories we have. I remember Nina Garcia said that one should own a beautiful umbrella at some point, sooner than later that is.

Well, check that off the list, because ladies I found the pinkest, most colorful one to tote with me this past weekend and this week it’s an added pop of pink, neon of course, in the otherwise drab and dark. I’m head over heels about it, and rain or shine this umbrella is the ideal one to have. Here are two favorite umbrellas to help survive the rainiest of weeks. Let it rain, xo.

relaxing scents

Ah! Nothing like a trip to the spa to make a vacation really relaxing. I love the spa at the Ritz in CO. It is one of my favorites. They have wonderful treatments, (everything from mani and pedis to a great lounge to sit in), and amazing products that I buy in bulk and use throughout the year. This morning I’m feeling dry, so I’m on the look out for a great scrub and moisturizer. It isn’ truly a relaxing atmosphere until you add a candle or two, so as inspired by my morning trip to the spa here are my three favorite candles. Get ready to lit one, pick up a great novel, and get relaxing. You deserve it.

These candles also make the perfect last minute presents for everyone on your holiday list!

my favorite holiday dresses

Tis’ the season to break all your winter dresses out and put them to good use. I have several holiday parties to attend this year, including of course the charity: water gala in two weeks. Though I have tons of winter staples I often feel like I haven’t quite settled on the perfect versatile winter dress. I decided to browse the web for some chic and affordable options. I’ve selected several of my favorite winter dresses. I can’t wait to show you which one I settled on!

1. If this look doesn’t make you excited about the holidays I don’t know what will! It’s the perfect mistletoe meet up dress! Pair with cute booties and a pop of color to finish off this statement look. (J.Crew)

2. Twist it up this holiday in this ultra cool patterned print. Just smile when your bombarded with endless compliments. (Barneys)

3. Sparkles are so in. Here’s the on target solution for all your holiday concerns. So chic. (Barneys)

Sunday Obsessions

In obsession news…

1. Gaga’s workshop at Barneys. The windows. The music. The shopping bags. The stuff. So Gaga.

2. Laura Mercier mascara. It’s the second most important a.m. pick me up! Can’t leave the house without it.

3. Oversized clutches. Nothing better than leaving your life sized carry all at home and giving your back a well deserved break.

4. Arm candy. I love this so much. The stakes are high so keep on stacking ladies! Less is no longer more, more is more is more. Mix match and have fun with this.

5. Red polish. Because it works for every occasion, season, etc. Loving any dark red by Essie for winter.

It’s been a great long weekend, but now it’s time to get one great night’s sleep and prepare for the long week ahead. Have a fashionable one. xo

a bright fall afternoon

I woke up nice and late this morning because it was just too difficult to tear myself away from my cashmere blanket that I picked up at Barneys yesterday. I did go for a run this morning in Central Park and between the orange and red hued leaves and the laughter the park was looking very stylish this morning.

My new Armand Diradourian Chevron Throw

There’s something so magical about the holidays in New York. On Park Avenue the lights are being strung on the Christmas trees and soon this week the Rockefeller tree will come to life. It’s a very serene time to be a New Yorker and I’m finding that I enjoy celebrating all the things the city has to offer.

Today I was thinking about going to the farmer’s market in Union Square. I love all the fresh foods they have and the beautiful flowers. It’s the perfect spot to go even if your just looking to take a walk and immerse yourself in one of the special things this city has to offer. Make sure to check out the pretzels and the fresh baked bread their the best! (That is if you have any room left over after your Thanksgiving feast!)

I say today is a perfect day to be comfortable so forget your skinny jeans and put on a pair of cute yoga pants from Lulu Lemon or a pair of leggings.

have fun on this beautiful afternoon fashion dish readers xx

Black Friday Madness

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I spent my night with family eating a lot of delicious food and even playing a round of Scrabble. Today I started my morning off with a bit of online Black Friday shopping before going out for a post Thanksgiving run. Though today is Black Friday the day of massive sales in all your favorite stores I’ve decided to avoid the crowds by sticking to online shopping on this lovely fall day. I really can’t see the fun in getting violent over a pair of shoes or a scarf. Though I do think I’ll make it over to Barneys for some pre-Christmas shopping I’m hoping to avoid the scary and lengthy crowds.

Such madness! At least it’s a good post Thanksgiving workout.

I finally purchased my third pair of booties this morning from Saks with more than a $100 discount! That’s a total score. I had them put into a gift box and tied with a pretty red ribbon so I can stash them right under the tree when they arrive.

Have you found any major deals? Stay warm and stylish xx

Haley’s Sunday

Though it is only the last week in October, today definitely felt like a winter day! It’s time to zip the fleece into your Barbour jacket and pile on the layers. Today was a very busy day, so I wanted to be extra comfortable for all the running around I did. I wore leggings, a brown and white striped Vince sweater, and Hunter boots. First, I made a quick stop for my usual Skinny Vanilla latte before making trips to two different Elis to prepare for my afternoon Halloween luncheon. I grabbed a ton of themed treats for the girls to nibble on as well as a spread of bagels, salmon, and baked goods. I also had to make sure to grab some apple cider, pumpkins, and gourds, (it just isn’t Halloween without them!).

After preparing the table for lunch I slipped into my red skinny AG’s. The luncheon went off without a hitch and everyone enjoyed the delicious food. I even watched part of the football game because a friend of mine wanted to and that never happens. Once I cleaned up I felt I needed a walk after indulging in so many goodies. I walked down to Barneys and ended up picking up something stunning, but I’m not writing about it until it gets here. I also snapped a picture of the window. In honor of Christian Louboutin’s anniversary there was the major display, (photographed below).

I say it every Sunday, but this weekend went by especially quickly. Tomorrow will definitely be a busy day with Halloween festivities, but I can’t wait to show you all what I am!

What are you all doing for Halloween?
