Day Three, sweet scents

On the third day of Christmas…I love the idea of giving a close friend or loved one a bottle of perfume for the holidays. Perfume is something that’s incredibly personal to give as well as a gift that keeps giving, I’ve had a bottle from Calypso for over three years now. There are so many different perfumes out there, so ahead of time make sure to note what scents your friend loves and which she hates. Listed below are a few favorites to get you started. Happy gifting!

weekend finds

Yesterday I took a small hiatus from blogging, sometimes it’s good to take a bit of a break, but I’m ready to start the weekend off to a fashionable start with a brand new edition of weekend finds! Whether you’re spending the long weekend engaging in fall activities like pumpkin or apple picking, hanging out with friends and family, or simply taking sometime for yourself I hope you have a very chic few days.

downtown chic

I love a downtown chic look. I haven’t worn a very downtown look in Boston yet, but on Tuesday I decided to wear exactly that. I wasn’t in the denim mood or the cord mood so I decided on a simple black maxi dress from Calypso I purchased earlier in the summer.

Calypso dress

I knew that the dress could easily be worn in the fall with the addition of some extra layers and a great pair of boots. So I layered the dress with a cool and chic oversized striped Vince knit. I added Isabel Marant black leather boots, a Jerome Dreyfuss cross body, and Oliver Peoples to complete the look. Every one loved the look and though I didn’t think much of it at first, just threw it on, those seem to be the best looks, the ones we never put too much thought into. I can’t wait to wear the downtown chic look again.

daily sparkles

On Saturday night while at an outdoor jazz concert in the West Village I noted a very sparkly trend. Apparently glitter isn’t for kids anymore, but it’s making a comeback in a chicer adult form via sequined totes that are popping up everywhere.

I found a stunning sparkly number at Calypso, the King Night Buckle tote by the French brand Estellon. While the blue sequins add fun, the blue and brown leather adds sophistication, making the carry all appropriate for work and play. Sometimes even the perfect it bag can’t take itself to seriously.

weekend finds

Thank god for the weekend, it was a whirlwind of a week. I’m spending the weekend home in New York, doing some of the things I love with the people I love, but here’s what’s on this week’s edition of weekend finds, xo.

Since moving to Boston I’ve stuck to a basic end of summer uniform, an Enza Costa tank, either J.Brand or Rag & Bone denim shorts, and a light sweater. Dressing down is definitely comfortable, especially when running around moving in and trying to escape the heat, but recently I’ve noticed one accessory that can take even the most casual outfit and make it chic,  earrings. Over the last week I’ve seen some ones everything from cute studs to colorful dangles. I’m in the market for a few new pairs and though I’ve narrowed it down to a few favorite designers the choices are endless. Here’s a selection of earrings that scream chic and are perfect transitional eye candy to take me from summer to fall, xo.

Roger that

Jack Rogers have always been a part of my warm weather shoe collection. When I was a little girl I always had a pair of pink and white navajos on my feet whether it was for dinner at World Pie or an early morning trip to the beach.

Jack Rogers are more than sandals to me, so though I have several friends who don’t love them on, when I wear them I’m reminded of fun, carefree childhood moments, and especially during a long week, sometimes a small reminded is exactly what’s needed.

Selma Blair

I love that Jack Rogers come in so many colors, Selma Blair was seen wearing a gold shade during the last few months of her pregnancy and Jackie O was known to have been a fan too. I adore my rose gold pair, they are the perfect throw on and hint of color to make a darker outfit have more summer flair, like when I paired them with a Current Elliott denim jacket and a linen maxi dress from Calypso to the office yesterday. I added some Jennifer Fisher charms which carried the gold throughout the look. The ideal summer shoe makes for the chicest summer look, xo.

denim craze

It’s all about denim this fall and well, it’s never too early in the season to invest in the perfect denim jacket. In fact, a denim jacket in the summer can make for the ideal weekend casual brunch look or a comfortable, but chic travel add on. I’m obsessed with the denim jacket I purchased at Blue & Cream this weekend. Earlier in the summer I fell in love with Current Elliott – all their denim is fantastic.

Of course I coveted their denim jacket for several months before at long last this weekend finding the exact one that I wanted. I wore it yesterday paired with a long dress from Calypso and a Jerome Dreyfuss Twee.

What I love most about the denim is that it can be both dressed up and down. I wore it casually for a late lunch and early dinner, but later in the week I’ll jazz it up and make it work appropriate. I love the dark wash, adorable snap buttons, and the cropped shape makes it easy to wear with longer dresses and skirts. A denim jacket is without a doubt a fashion must, xo.

pinkalicious

I started to worry on Wednesday night as I hadn’t picked out the next day’s look and was going home sleepy and ready to crawl into bed, but after a quick thought at dinner I realized that one trend I hadn’t worn to the office, was one of the most obvious choices, colored denim! I don’t wear much color in general, I gravitate towards darker hues, but I was hoping for sunshine and thought I’d add a bit of summer kick to the office wear routine.

I knew I had to wear the new Isabel Marant booties I purchased a few weekends ago, once I find a comfortable and chic boot I wear them to death! I decided to go a different route than a trouser, instead a chose coral J.Brand skinnies, a hot hue of the summer, and then added a white lace tank blouse from Calypso.

The white of the tank complimented both the colorful jeans and the downtown vibe of the boots. I tied the whole look together with a oversized Derek Lam cardigan with pinks and grays. I accessorized only with a red Goyard tote letting the colors speak for themselves. It’s been a fun week of looks, this look is a favorite because of the girliness of colors mixed with the edgier vibe of the boots, and I can’t wait to reveal what I’m wearing in the Hamptons this weekend (think bikini), xo.

Super Saturday

This afternoon I’m attending my first ever Super Saturday. The benefit, which is celebrating its 15th aniversary is hosted this summer by InStyle, Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa, and Ariel Foxman.

Tons of celebrities come out each July to support the fantastic cause, all funds go to Ovarian Cancer Research, and get in on all the fun. To name a few of the afternoon’s activities, a Color Club Color Bar offering manis and pedis and a Crumbs Bakeshop DIY table filled with sweet treats.

I’m super excited too about the colorful and very summery outfit I chose for the ocassion. I’m wearing a fun pink parachute skirt and a white lacey racerback tank from Calypso, and rose gold Jack Rogers. Of course I’m accessorizing with favorite sunnies from Oliver Peoples and an old Prada orange clutch. I can’t wait to spend the afternoon, in honor of a great cause, with friends, checking out all the great booths, and of course grabbing up a great goodie bag, xo!
