cardis to beat the indoor blues

While the temps are hot and humid outside it’s more often than not frigid inside! Between heavily air conditioned offices and cool stores and restraunts it’s always important to carry along a summer appropriate cardi to beat the indoor blues. These four favorite cardigans will keep your wardrobe chic, and you warm, xo.

Maxed Out Maxi Skirt

Yesterday definitely felt like a Monday, so it’s more than time for a midweek break, in fact a delicious dinner with a close friend is exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s been a chaotic week and an insane afternoon, so I can’t wait to take a midweek break. I’m head over heels in love with the pink maxi skirt, from boutique Ludivine, I wore in Mexico, and since I’m in the mood for a little bit of color and a little bit of sass it’s the perfect choice.

Though I’m terrified to wear it in New York, it’s long enough that if I’m not careful the delicate hem could get smashed, it’s the look I’m feeling for a midweek dinner date. With a fun silk tank from Joie, another favorite, and a warm Theory knit it’s comfortable, but has just the right amount of dressiness in it to make it the ideal look for a cozy dinner in the village.

It’s exciting to wear this particular piece in the City because I’m all for a versatile wardrobe! With the addition of a leather jacket to keep me warm and a fun boot to accessorize with, I’ve taken the beach like quality of a sandal and bare shoulder and turned it into an appropriate wear for a cooler New York evening. I’ve recently realized that I have several favorites I find I’m reworking time and time again, but that’s exactly what makes me love fashion, there’s always a new way to rework a favorite look, xo.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the queen of the t-shirt. Whether I’m out doing errands, having coffee with a friend, or catching up on some sleep I’m wearing a tee. I have favorites of course including some soft Vince t-shirts I grabbed up last summer, but I’m always open to adding some new ones to my wardrobe.

The Zoe Karssen tank

A few months ago I went shopping at Ludivine , a cute boutique with locations in the village and the Upper East Side, and picked up quiet a few items including great cardigans, dresses, a cool maxi skirt, and a great oversized tank by Zoe Karssen. The Karssen tank is perfect for it has just the right amount of comfort, but is a versatile piece in that it can be dressed both up and down.

The vintage, worn out look of the tee adds a fun factor too. Though I hadn’t found the occasion to style it just yet, last night provided the ultimate opportunity. I was still excited about the major maxi skirt I wore Monday, (also from Ludivine), so I decided to wear it again, but this time a bit differently.

This time I swapped the blouse for the oversized tank by Zoe Karssen. I added a pair of black gladiators for more of a rock and roll vibe and carried along a blue and beige striped quarter sleeve sweater from Chinti and Parker. It made for the ultimate last night out look.

Though I’ve had a fantastic time on vacation with family I’m headed home this afternoon. It’s true what they say there’s no place like home, especially when home is New York City, xo

cute cardigans

(a simple look from Chinti and Parker)

I love a cardigan and recently they have been my seasonal investment. From winter cashmere to lighter wool for the spring and the summer a cardigan is the one staple I love to wear again and again. Recently I purchased two new cardigans, one of which I wore on Friday for my one in three outfit. It took me from an interview to more, so tonight I couldn’t wait to fashion another one.

I was home most of Saturday working so I was very excited to dress up and go out to delicious mexican food with my friend. We decided on Maz Mezcal. It’s a fun environment with the best food and we even spotted socialite Tinsely Mortimer there too. While I was getting dressed I realized what an ideal staple it actually is and for this season it’s the perfect compliment for any outfit from the office to dinner.

three in one, an outfit from interview to dinner

(from the Giada Forte 2011 lookbook)

I decided to interrupt this week in fashion news for an important post on today’s outfit. I’ve never had such a busy few weeks and though today is Friday, (at last), it’s the busiest day of my week. I have meetings all morning, before rushing to the west side for an interview, and then one more meeting before dinner in the West Village. I definitely need an outfit that isn’t just the perfect transition from day to night, but also works for my meetings and my interview!

(two looks from Chinti and Parker lookbook)

It’s crazy to think about, but I just purchased some new clothes at chic boutique Ludivine and I couldn’t think of a better time to debut them. Though I’m not usually one for mixing prints I thought I’d wear one of the dresses I selected, a beautiful short printed dress with a tan pattern on it from a collection designed by Giada Forte along with a cropped yellow and navy striped cardigan from Chinti and Parker.

(another look from Giada Forte)

I love the unexpected combination of stripes and print and I think it’s an appropriate combination for all my activities in the day and dinner especially since I’ll pair it with more conservative black tights. I’ll leave the accessories behind as I don’t want to overcomplicate the outfit and I already plan on bringing along my new Vanessa Bruno tote to hold all I need. I felt like a school girl laying out my clothes last night and cutting the tags off with excitement, so I can’t wait to see what the day holds and I hope it’s a chic end of the wek.

Here’s to three in one outfits, xo
