an uptown look with downtown shoes

On Friday I decided to give the days look a bit of edge with the addition of my new favorite black boots from Isabel Marant. I love that the Jenny boot is scrunched down and a shorter cut allowing them to be worn with both pants and dresses. I’d worn them the night before when I decided to add a little something special to the ALC dress I wore to work, however with the weekend hours away and a strong urge to just be comfortable I knew I would have to wear the boots with whatever particular office look I wore the next day.

I hadn’t worn my pink silk maxi skirt in quite sometime and the weather was super nice for most of the day, so I decided to wear the skirt with an easy silk patterned tank from Joie. The addition of the booties added a downtown vibe to the more classic uptown look. Mixing and matching thought is the best way to always be chic, xo.

the Hamptons

I had an almost perfect summer Hamptons weekend and it makes it all the harder to come home and be in work mode for the rest of the week! When packing for the Hamptons I always take versatile pieces that can transition from day to night easily, but that are also comfortable, since it is the beach, but also chic, since it is the Hamptons after all. I arrived in the Hamptons on Saturday dressed for a work event at Magaschoni.

I decided to wear a favorite outfit from earlier in the week, a long Joie flowered skirt, which received a ton of compliments, a James Perse oversized tee, black sandals, and a Rick Owens leather jacket for when the temps dropped at night. Since the next day was Sunday and I knew I would spend the earlier part of the afternoon shopping at favorite Blue & Cream, (much more on the out of control fall looks later), I stuck to workout clothes, but that night switched in a Calypso maxi dress, with rose gold Jack Rogers, and a Jennifer Miller cuff for dinner outside on the water at the Beacon.

Monday I wore the Calypso dress again, but this time dressed it down with an oversized denim vest from J.Crew, Oliver Peoples, and Haviannas to last through the whole afternoon and into the evening, from a brief evening trip to the beach to a delicious dinner at Sam’s with Blue & Cream owner Jeff and wife Sam. I can’t wait to do it all again next weekend, that’s after all what summer is all about, sun, fun, and friends, xo.

summer lovin’

My summer staple is without a doubt maxi skirts. Whether dressed up with a blouse and heel for events or dressed down with a tee for the office it’s the perfect hot weather solution. I have quite a collection at this point and tend to wear at least one of them a week.

Yesterday I dressed prepared for the almost 100 degree weather in a breathable long black and white flowered skirt from Joie. I paired it with an oversized tee that I picked up from James Perse this weekend and a fun gold cuff from Jennifer Miller.

In this heat it’s especially important not to over accessorize. So while I added gold hoops for a downtown vibe I didn’t pile any other jewels on. Never forgo style for the heat and with this look I didn’t have to, xo.

a night out in snakeskin, leather, and denim

The third and final look from the shoot with Blue&Cream is a fun one with a wild combination of snakeskin, leather, and denim. The look works because the separates all fuse to form one hot outfit to wear out on the town, from a dinner downtown to out on the dance floor. I’m in love with this Joie dress with a cute flower print that bunched at the waist and fell fitted at the bottom.

The Rag & Bone denim jacket with leather sleeves is an on trend piece that I had to snatch up. It takes this look to a whole knew level, but it’s also a versatile piece that adds a bit of downtown chic to an otherwise sweet look and can be worn even into the fall. We didn’t over accessorize, but instead choose to draw the focus to one statement 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Mini Satchel in Pistachio. The colorful snakeskin like satchel adds some attitude to finish off the look. Snatch up all these pieces from these three looks at Blue&Cream for a summer of fashion successes, xo.

a mix of rose gold and patterned prints

Not until recently did I get into the habit of laying out and planning all my outfits before a trip. Sometimes it’s difficult when packing for two weeks to plan out up to two outfits per day, but a weekend trip to the Hamptons was an easy one to plan for. In fact, I had a ton of fun laying everything out and taking pictures so I wouldn’t forget which shoe went with which pant. However, I’m a firm believer you have to plan for the unexpected, and that includes small fashion emergencies like blisters!

Breakfast is Served – the beautiful outdoor area, add homemade omelet and coffee and it’s absolute heaven

The afternoon’s attire, stripes are a summer must have after all and read I Can Make You Hot (it’s a HOT read)

If you can believe it, which I’m sure you can because it’s something that’s a universal issue for us women, I was breaking in brand new Stubbs & Wootton the other afternoon and received two nasty blisters. Though I managed to wear Manolos last night, not to get too TMI on you, this morning closed toed shoes were out of the question and my shoe option for tonight, bright blue Manolos, were a giant no!

I love these sandals so much!

It’s been chilly here all day, so I didn’t mind switching tonight’s outfit for tomorrow’s day time outfit, but adding some night time accessories to assure a smooth transition. I decided to pair a favorite beige pair of J.Brand’s with a patterned tank from Joie. I added rose gold metallic Jack Roger sandals for a little sparkle and threw on a Theory white blazer for a bit of snazziness. I had a delicious time at The Living Room in town and highly recommend it, (it’s a real Hampton hotspot). Tomorrow’s Monday, but today let’s celebrate our Mommy’s because without them we’d be lost, xo.

boho chic with uptown structure

Last night I was very excited to have dinner with a close girlfriend at yummy New York hotspot Mezzaluna. The food is absolutely delicious and the fantastic sunny weather yesterday allowed for us to sit outdoors enjoying the early evening breeze. I spent the majority of yesterday afternoon laying out what I was packing for my trip to East Hampton this weekend.

It’s the first visit of the summer and I can’t wait to stop by local favorites, do a little shopping, and enjoy early morning runs in town. While I couldn’t quite decide what to wear to dinner I finally settled on a boho chic look with accessories that added an uptown vibe. I love mixing my looks because I love every part of the city and tend to dress with both a little bit of downtown edge with more structured accessories.

(similar Joie skirt)

I wore a fun printed Joie maxi skirt with a Zoe Karssen tank. Since there was a bit of a breeze and the temperatures were going to drop as it got later I decided to add a beige sweater with buttons down the back and a well loved leather jacket. I topped the outfit off with black sandals, gold hoops (from Calypso), and a black Birkin bag for a touch of uptown structure. I can’t wait to share the weekend looks, xo.

the crop tank

I’ve never been a fan of the crop top and in fact prefer oversized tees and blouses, but yesterday I made an exception and, well, loved the result to be honest! I wore a Zoe Karssen tank for the majority of the day, but as I added a touch of makeup for dinner I spilled some on the shirt and as a rule I just couldn’t leave the house with a stain, so I had to resort to a stack of other tanks. I knew it was warm out and I’d already felt like the tank was the perfect mix between casual with a mix of chic, so I had to be creative.

When I was about 10 we went to Paris over the summer and shopped at the famous children’s store, Bonpoint. I still have vivid memories of the clothes we purchased and have one tank left from the trip. I’ve kept it more as a memento than an actual wardrobe item, but yesterday I decided to try it on. It’s a pale blue tank with a small selection of roses around the neckline and straps. It’s super comfortable too which is a definite plus. It’s much shorter on me now than it was when I was 10, but since I decided to pair it with a Joie maxi skirt it revealed zero skin, but instead added another level of boho chic vibe.

I love fashion for a lot of reasons, but most of all fashion to me is the chance to mix and match, some old some new, and  to create new moments and let old memories live on, xo.

one outfit from day to night

It was another gorgeous day in New York yesterday. I had a very busy day and wanted to be comfortable especially because I spent the majority of the day at my desk. Between a phone conversation with the superlux Samantha Yanks, an interview, that will be revealed later next week, and one meeting in the later afternoon, I barely had a second to myself, so I couldn’t be too fussy about the day’s look.

I decided to go with a more casual maxi skirt, mine’s from Joie, made from cotton, not silk like the pink one I often write about, a Zoe Karssen tank that I adore and that’s a hit with friends, and black sandals. I accessorized with staple Oliver Peoples and an oversized tote that held all I needed for the afternoon. I also had to dress in a versatile enough outfit that I could wear to dinner with a girlfriend in the village.

What I love about fashion is how easy it is to add an accessory, a different shoe, and some mascara and you’ve transformed what was a easy breezy day look into a comfortable, but with an added sheen evening look. Those are the best kinds of clothes I think, pieces that can be worn a multitude of different ways and can be dressed up or down to suit the occasion. I always keep that in mind. I have lots of exciting things on the horizon to share and a big deadline tomorrow so it’s time to get going, xo.

Limoland x Jambox Launch Event at Serafina

Talk about summer weather! It was beautiful out yesterday and I couldn’t get enough of the summer like temperatures. Summer temperatures mean shorter dresses minus the tights and sandals instead of boots. It was the perfect evening to make those adjustments to my wardrobe. I was especially excited to attend last night’s event because I adore the brand LimoLand, fans include Liv Tyler and Christian Louboutin. It’s a fun and colorful line that specializes in men’s bathing suits and eccentric unisex tees and sweatshirts.

Ever since I interviewed owner Jean Pigozzi a few months I’ve been excited about the line, so it was a pleasure to be invited to the LimoLand x Jambox launch event at the newest Serafina location in the Meatpacking district. I’m also a huge fan of Serafina so it was treat to be invited to their newest location a week before the actual opening.

Last night I decided to wear J.Brand beige jeans with a red and blue Joie tank and rose gold Jack Roger sandals and accessorized with a Chan Luu bracelet, a red Goyard tote, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses. The event was super fun with delicious truffle pizza and other items from Serafina’s tasting menu, a fun raffle, and a great appearance by LimoLand owner, Jean. It was definitely a night of celebration and a welcome introduction to all that the summer holds, xo.

laid back lace

Let’s talk lace. It’s a new fabric for me, but one I’ve taken to well. Lace  seems like the ideal texture for summer time, not too warm, but also not too casual that it can’t be worn to work. The exquisite detail is what made me fall head over heels for it at first, but when I tried a blouse on the other afternoon while at Calypso that’s when I knew I’d found another perfect addition for summer.

For the love of lace – Sienna Miller knows how to mix and match with fun lace and patterned pants

These laces below have both a structured look for the office, but a fun flair too. Their an on trend compliment to for a dressed down black pant or a colorful pair of shorts and work to form a more dressed up look when paired with a cute maxi skirt, (make sure that the hem of the tank hits below the waist of the skirt so a mumu moment is avoided), or a white jean.

It’s a laid back lace look for dinner at fun downtown favorite, Buvette, paired with peach jeans, xo.
