Nicole’s Workout Wear

I decided to dress with a nod to Nicole Richie yesterday. I definitely needed to take a visit to the gym and if I don’t put workout clothes on first thing in the morning you can bet your bottom dollar I won’t make it there! The other day I came across a picture of Nicole in US Weekly leaving the gym. She looked so chic in her sunglasses and leather jacket, so even though she’d been sweating it out she still left look refreshed and put together. I decided to kick my workout look up a few notches yesterday, so instead of just wearing Nike leggings and a tee, I added a white long sleeve Enza Costa knit and a black leather jacket. I accessorized with an oversized super soft scarf and Oliver Peoples sunglasses. Of course my new customized Nike sneakers added the final touch of chic to the look. Going to the gym is sometimes a drag, but dressing the part shouldn’t be!

denim and sweater

Plain and simple denim and a sweater made up this Saturday’s comfortable, but chic and weather appropriate look. It’s fall, but the weather is definitely not acting like it. It felt so good to be in shorts again, especially a favorite well worn Current Elliot pair, an oldie Vince blue and green striped sweater, a light Enza Costa tank, and of course a pair of Oliver Peoples. No New York weekend is complete with a trip to the village. Yesterday I spent the afternoon with my mom eating lunch at the Spice Market, doing some window shopping, and purchasing some fall ribbed sweaters at Ralph Lauren!

downtown chic

I love a downtown chic look. I haven’t worn a very downtown look in Boston yet, but on Tuesday I decided to wear exactly that. I wasn’t in the denim mood or the cord mood so I decided on a simple black maxi dress from Calypso I purchased earlier in the summer.

Calypso dress

I knew that the dress could easily be worn in the fall with the addition of some extra layers and a great pair of boots. So I layered the dress with a cool and chic oversized striped Vince knit. I added Isabel Marant black leather boots, a Jerome Dreyfuss cross body, and Oliver Peoples to complete the look. Every one loved the look and though I didn’t think much of it at first, just threw it on, those seem to be the best looks, the ones we never put too much thought into. I can’t wait to wear the downtown chic look again.

weekend finds

It’s hard to believe that it’s already the weekend! This week has been a whirlwind of excitement and absolute craziness between moving from New York to settling into a new life in Boston. However, the fashion world stops for nothing and next week New York Fashion Week quicks off. In honor, here are four finds that are both chic and comfortable for a little r and r this weekend, the quiet before the (fashion) storm, xo.

Super Saturday

This afternoon I’m attending my first ever Super Saturday. The benefit, which is celebrating its 15th aniversary is hosted this summer by InStyle, Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa, and Ariel Foxman.

Tons of celebrities come out each July to support the fantastic cause, all funds go to Ovarian Cancer Research, and get in on all the fun. To name a few of the afternoon’s activities, a Color Club Color Bar offering manis and pedis and a Crumbs Bakeshop DIY table filled with sweet treats.

I’m super excited too about the colorful and very summery outfit I chose for the ocassion. I’m wearing a fun pink parachute skirt and a white lacey racerback tank from Calypso, and rose gold Jack Rogers. Of course I’m accessorizing with favorite sunnies from Oliver Peoples and an old Prada orange clutch. I can’t wait to spend the afternoon, in honor of a great cause, with friends, checking out all the great booths, and of course grabbing up a great goodie bag, xo!

weekend finds

The weekend has come a bit earlier this week, so without further ado that means a brand new edition of Weekend Finds, xo.

St. Barths

It’s official, I’m on summer vacation! Well, for a week that is before I start a fantastic internship back in New York. Late Friday afternoon we arrived in St. Barths and even since I have been in total paradise. The weather is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the people are the sweetest. I’ve already done a bit of shopping, tasted the freshest fish off the island, and gotten a little bit of sun even! My wardrobe here is definitely different than my city look and it’s a welcomed break. I love the ease of changing from workout clothes in the morning into a bathing suit, from Malia Mills of course, and a comfortable coverup, I choose one oversized linen tank from Calypso in various shades of blue for this vacation.

Karla Sleeveless Tank

I spent all of yesterday sitting and reading magazines and a novel on the iPad and had a long lunch that lasted into the evening. It’s nice not to have the stress of rushing around and though I’m a bit homesick, I know I’ll be well rested and sunned for all that New York summer has in store for me, xo.

Corie Sunnies (Oliver Peoples)

oversized update

I love oversized sunnies. Even though some women love a small frame, I’m all about the bigger the better. No matter the numerous times I switch bags in a week I make sure to have shades with me at all times. Their the perfect morning pick me up, coverup, and make for great accessories (I’ve been known to wear them even on the cloudiest mornings).

My wardrobe is definitely a product of the environment I live in, it’s all various shades of blacks and darker colors, and the accessories are too! I have numbers black sunglasses and even though I do love black and a color to wear with all, sometimes a girl’s gotta go for a bit of change.

This weekend I purchased a brand new pair of Oliver Peoples called the Corie. Their oversized, but retro inspired. Though the colorful ones are fun I settled on the dark tortoise brown. I love them and from Spin class to a breakfast date with a friend their a summer must have, xo.

weekend finds

It’s the weekend – at last! – so that means it’s time for a new edition of weekend finds. Find out below what four items made it onto this weekend’s list, xo.

one outfit from day to night

It was another gorgeous day in New York yesterday. I had a very busy day and wanted to be comfortable especially because I spent the majority of the day at my desk. Between a phone conversation with the superlux Samantha Yanks, an interview, that will be revealed later next week, and one meeting in the later afternoon, I barely had a second to myself, so I couldn’t be too fussy about the day’s look.

ZOE KARSSEN TANK

JOIE SKIRT (SIMILAR)

I decided to go with a more casual maxi skirt, mine’s from Joie, made from cotton, not silk like the pink one I often write about, a Zoe Karssen tank that I adore and that’s a hit with friends, and black sandals. I accessorized with staple Oliver Peoples and an oversized tote that held all I needed for the afternoon. I also had to dress in a versatile enough outfit that I could wear to dinner with a girlfriend in the village.

DAY TO NIGHT WITH

STUART WEITZMAN ESPADRILLE

YSL CLUTCH

What I love about fashion is how easy it is to add an accessory, a different shoe, and some mascara and you’ve transformed what was a easy breezy day look into a comfortable, but with an added sheen evening look. Those are the best kinds of clothes I think, pieces that can be worn a multitude of different ways and can be dressed up or down to suit the occasion. I always keep that in mind. I have lots of exciting things on the horizon to share and a big deadline tomorrow so it’s time to get going, xo.
